About Canberra BusinessPoint

Canberra BusinessPoint is an exciting new ACT Government Initiative which is proudly presented by Deloitte. It is a sophisticated business information mentoring and advisory service for business in the ACT region.

Canberra BusinessPoint is an innovative and free service designed to deliver end-to-end advisory services for start-up businesses, young businesses, entrepreneurs, exporters and established enterprises.

Specifically the program aims to assist businesses from a diverse cross-section of industries within the ACT, with particular respect to: growth plans, commercialisation of ideas and concepts and mentoring owners and operators in the effective running of their business operations.

The flexible design of the Canberra BusinessPoint service means that you can either follow the suggested program pathway or can subscribe to the program components that suit your needs best. The recommended pathway outlined below is designed to help you to maximize the value you receive in participating in the program:

Please note, attendance at workshops is a prerequisite to accessing mentoring support.

The program provides e-Learning material and face to face workshops in six areas of business success. These areas include:

• Business Basics 1
• Business Basics 2
• Business Health Checks - Managign in Volatile Times
• Export
• Commercialisation
• Entrepreneurship

For businesses in their first 1-3 years of operations the recommended entry point is Business Basics 1 and/or 2. For businesses with more specific needs, the other four programs are designed to capitalise on providing participants with tailored content to meet their unique business challenges.

For all registered participants of the program there will be a monthly e-newsletter distributed. The newsletter will cover current stories and issues relating to the six areas of business success.

The workshops are designed to equip the participants with basic business principles to enable them to better manage their businesses and have more meaningful conversations with their advisers.

Participants will learn the basic principles of writing business, strategic, growth and export plans. Through the examination of case studies participants will gain an insight into tools and techniques for successfully managing their business on a day to day basis.
